Pilsener Beer. E. Robinson's Sons. Scranton, PA.
In 1862, German immigrant Jacob Robinson established Jacob Robinson Brewery in Scranton, Pennsylvania. In 1890, he passed the brewery down to his sons, who changed the name to E. Robinson’s Sons Brewery, in honor of their mother, Elizabeth. The brewery’s name changed again in 1897 to Pennsylvania Central Brewing Company of Scranton, which it remained until it ceased production in 1920 due to Prohibition. The brewery reopened after the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, but it was unable to compete in the post-Prohibition market and closed indefinitely in the same year. This lithograph on paper was produced in the 1890s and advertises one of E. Robinson’s Sons Brewery’s stable beers, their Pilsner.
