Drewry & Sons "Limetta" December 1903 Calendar
Object/Artifact
Drewry & Sons Brewery. St. Paul, MN.
Drewry & Sons was founded in St. Paul, MN, by Edward Drewry and his family in 1867. From its inception until it closed in 1917, the brewery took on multiple names, including Edward Drewry, Eliza Drewry, and Drewry & Sons. Drewry & Sons stood out from other Minnesota breweries by being one of only two breweries in the state to solely produce ales, as opposed to lagers. This is because Edward Drewry immigrated to the United States from Great Britain, where he worked as a British Ale brewmaster. This calendar is from a division of Drewry & Sons where they produced non-alcoholic drinks, such as Limetta, Cream Soda, Lemon Soda, and Sparkling Grapine. A label on a bottle of Limetta would describe the drink as “A Sparkling Non Alcoholic Lime Juice Beverage”, that was “healthful”, and a “thirst quencher”.
